These organic and sustainably harvested sticks come from the Palo Santo Tree, a Sacred tree that thrives in South America native to Mexico and the Yucatán Peninsula to Peru and Venezuela. This "Holy Wood" is related to Frankincense, Myrrh and Copal
Used in a similar fashion to White Sage Smudges, it is burned as an aromatic incense to cleanse.
About the designer:
Akela has been obsessed with fabrics, textures and patterns since early childhood while growing up in Brooklyn. Home life for her was very humble and an emphasis on design did not really exist. But she found that her creativity increased while making the most of what she had. She was inspired from the city and it's art culture outside of home life.
After graduating high school in 2006 Akela was accepted into Moore College of Art in Design in Philadelphia. But not long after she left abruptly and fell into a deep depression neglecting her art as she regarded it as a distant past life.
Then in 2010 Akela took a road trip to California that would change her life. Soon after arriving back to NY, forces came together quickly and she took the opportunity to move to San Francisco. She later met the love of her life and got back into her passion for the arts, starting Akela Designs.
